Electric vehicles really are great platforms for audio upgrades, without the battle of engine noise when tuning an audio system the only factor is road noise which can be managed through sound deadening materials really making them great to work with.
With this project we started with a full car dual skin sound deadening treatment to tackle the aforementioned road noise problem. With that task tackled we set on to the install on this vehicle. An all Audison Voce build was chosen except for the processor which was changed for a Helix DSP Pro unit instead. The front speakers are a set of Audisons Voce 3-way components. The rear speakers are a complimenting set of Audisons Voce coaxial speakers.
With the subwoofers 2x custom made fibreglass enclosure were made to occupy the rear cavities in the boot space finishing them flush with the wheel arches. These hold 1x Audison Voce 12″ sub woofer complimenting the speakers up front with a balanced and smooth bass line.
To power the system 2x Audison Voce AB class amplifiers were used. A single 4 channel amplifier to control the speakers paired with a single mono block amplifier to drive the 2x 12″ sub woofers. The amplifiers and DSP are held in a custom cabinet under the boot floor with Perspex top panel with custom etching replicating the Tesla badge back-lit with red LED strips the logo really pops at night.
The red LED lighting doesn’t stop in the boot though, we made strips that secure underneath the car for that extra WOW factor.
